We are NOT be entering a team into the mini-festival of 7-a-side mini-soccer hosted by Spennithorne on Saturday as regrettably we do not have sufficient numbers of older Y3 & Y2 players available and so cannot take part.

Further friendly tournaments will be arranged later in the year - I will let you know well in advance and hopefully we will be able to get a squad together and get our SMSC players some proper match experience.

Appeal for help!

We need help running the SMSC.

Specifically

• coaches/helpers - no specific experience required - though some knowledge of and interest in football is a help
• administration and organisation - we need regular help with things like registration and collection of subs.

If we are to have a strong, vibrant and sustainable SMSC we need more parents to volunteer some time and get more involved.

New players are welcome as always.

Wwe will be back as usual (10:30-12:00) next week (Saturday 31st July).

Please note that last season's U8s (current school Y3, to be Y4 in September) will be joining our new U9/10 squad as of Saturday 31st July - with training sessions from 09:00-10:30. More news on this soon.

The meeting will run from 10:30 for 20 approximately minutes and will be attended by players and parents - followed by a normal SMSC session afterwards until 12:00.

Please arrive promptly for SMSC so that we can get the meeting done quickly and back out to football.

The SMSC continues as normal for the younger players (School Y2, Y1 and Reception).

The SMSC will run as usual on Saturday (10:30-12:00)

On Sunday it's the annual GALA DAY run by and in aid of the Sports Association (which the Junior Football club is part of along with senior football and cricket teams). This is the major fund-raising event of the year and we need to support it and ensure it is a success.

We're running a football tournament for U8s and U10s as part of the GALA DAY. Unfortunately we were not able to get sufficient interest in running something for U6s alongside - so the tournament is only for the older U8s squad.

There are lots of opportunities for people to volunteer and help with the football tournament and with the GALA itself - please let me or any of the GALA organisers know if you would like to help.

All SMSC players can come down at any time between 09:00-12:00 and join in with skills, drills and mini-soccer matches.

We have a busy weekend scheduled following on from last week's great performances from our U8s and U6s.

On Saturday we are not running the SMSC as we will be taking part in a mini-festival over at Leyburn - details below.

Friendly Matches at Leyburn.

We have been invited to take part in some friendly matches hosted by Leyburn Juniors FC at the Leyburn Primary School from 12:00.

The football is part of their Community Day- so there will plenty of things for non-playing brother & sisters to do.

• Free entertainment (Bouncy castle, Circus Workshop, Skipping workshop, face painting and others)
• There will be plenty of refreshments and other stalls in addition.

Other clubs taking part include: Leyburn, Spennithornn, Barton & 2 Dales

There will be 6-a-side games for both our U8s and U6s - the final timetable will be dependent on the number of teams on the day.

Instructions:

• Meet at Leyburn Primary School at 11:45 (see map below)
  • NOTE - this is NOT the Wensleydale School where we played previously
• Please arrange lifts/car shares amongst yourselves - call Steve if you need help

Unfortunately Northallerton's younger players can't make it along this week so there is no match for the younger SMSC members (U6 & U5) - but they are very welcome to come along and cheer on the older players and have a kick about.

For U8 & U7 players:

• Players will change into CV kit the changing rooms
• Remember shin pads & a drink (preferably water)

It would be really appreciated if our SMSC parents could volunteer some time to help clear the Sports Fields of litter while the kids are playing football.

A dozen or so people working for 20-30 minutes would make a real contribution.

The SMSC will be back outside from 10:30-12:00 at the Sports Fields in Catterick Village from this week onwards.

After consultation with the other coaches and parents - we have decided to take our SMSC back home to the Sports Field in the village from this Saturday (20th March)

This is a little earlier than previously planned (at Easter) due to the mild weather.

Players should: 

• have warm tops/bottoms 
• wear football boots or "outside trainers" (don't worry about football boots if you don't have them)
• Remember Shin Pads!
• Bring a drink: water or juice (nothing fizzy)
