CVJFC - Return of Football

We are back!!!!!!!!

Following the roadmap out of Covid-19 lockdown (Part 3) recently announced by the UK government, the return of grassroots sport is permitted from the end of March. You may have seen all over facebook that clubs have been announcing that they are returning on that day that we are allowed to.

As a club, CVJFC have made the decision that we will return week commencing Monday 5th April 2021.

We have done this to allow parents to enjoy the Easter weekend. Having been away for so long we felt waiting 1 more week due to the bank holiday was the right thing to do for you all. There is also some planned maintenance at the field over the Easter weekend so it would have been difficult to return whilst that was taking place.

Training: At present we still don't know what restrictions we will have as to how training will look. Please bear with us whilst we get the details from The FA. Once we have these, Jason (as Covid Officer) will instruct all coaches of how training is to restart. This will then be communicated within your WhatsApp groups so please message your coach if you aren't in the group.

Fixtures: The club have also advised all leagues that we will not be playing any matches during the month of April. With the easing of restrictions everybody will start to mix with friends (rule of 6 etc) and we feel it is in the best interests of all at the club that we maintain a safe environment during this period of adjustment. Coaches have all been informed of this decision and are all in agreement. We then have a period of time where parents and players can return to the club knowing that everything is being done to keep everybody safe. Fixtures will start for all of our league teams from May 1st and will run until June 27th.

Harrogate: This only affects our U11, U12 and U14 squads: This league have declared their season null and void. We were given the choice of still playing any planned fixtures as friendlies or withdrawing. CVJFC have made the decision to withdraw from the planned fixtures. This means that we can play locally (Hambleton league) and restrict the travelling into areas further afield for our families whilst we are coming out of lockdown. This was a decision that the relevant coaches and club officials felt was the right thing to do to keep our squads together and safe. We then plan to return to the Harrogate league for the new 2021-2022 season that will start in September.

Fees: We are sure that everybody will be pleased to hear that we are not going to be taking any fees from people during the remainder of this 2020-2021 season. As people will be returning at different times when they see it is safe to do so, CVJFC have decided to make football free until the end of July. For anybody that paid for the full season, please bear with us. We will be in contact shortly to discuss this with you. As we are not collecting any fees please see the below post about easyfundraising where you can help us by raising free donations whenever you shop online.

Safeguarding

You may have seen on the news recently that The FA have been investigated into historic safeguarding concerns. The full review is published here and you can find The FA's statement about the review here.

CVJFC always have, and always will, take seriously the issue of safeguarding within our club.

We recently posted (see news item here) about an audit we had done on us by the North Riding County FA in January and the subsequent update to the Safeguarding page of our website. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the new page and view the documents that the club have made available to everybody.

If anybody has any concerns please contact Bob Thornton (our Child Welfare Officer) who will listen and take the appropriate action for the matter. Bob has many years experience of being a Child Welfare Officer and can be contacted by calling 07736 375608 or by emailing cwo@catterickvillagejfc.net

Vacant Roles

We are always looking for new volunteers to join us and help grow and run Catterick Village Junior Football Club. If you can help in any way please contact us by emailing info@catterickvillagejfc.net stating how you wish to help. There are various roles that we are currently recruiting for as detailed below.

Social Media Officer: To work with the website and commercial individuals and post club updates on our social media channels and adverts relevant to our club from sponsors and local companies.

Coach: We require coaches for the lower age groups within the club, particularly for the new seasons U6 squad and Soccer Tots. CVJFC will fund the CRC check and any courses required for the successful individuals

Assistant Coach: Assist a coach with the running of their squad. CVJFC will fund the CRC check and any courses required for the successful individuals.

There will be more roles that become vacant as we progress out of lockdown and into an unrestricted way of living. These will include helping with the tuck shop on Saturday mornings and hopefully introducing this into matchdays. We would really like to get a team of volunteers to do this so please let us know if you are interested and hopefully we can reintroduce this in the summer when all restrictions have been lifted.
